Description
Located on a clay soil, the soil of Baronville generates beautiful pastures and forests. This small village is situated north of Beauraing and is crossed by two important roads: the road to Givet and the road to Dinant.
The castle of Baronville
This castle is a classic U-shaped building. It was built by the Wal de Baronville family. In 1793, the revolutionaries looted it.
Brick and limestone walls enclose the castle’s forecourt. A moat, now dry, surrounds it. This building is privately owned and cannot be visited.
The church
This church, dedicated to Saint-Maurice, was built in 1789.
The “Grand Quarti” nature reserve
This place is a protected butterfly reserve of the village of Baronville. It is only mown once a year and the insects can only be seen in June and July. The area cannot be accessed without a guide, which is why the Beauraing Tourist Office is working with Natagora to make it possible to visit the area in summer.
The watering hole of the village of Baronville
In the past, horses could stop here to drink and eat hay.
The Hogge farm
Hogge Farm raises hens that produce organic eggs. Since 2018, the farmers have been offering to buy their eggs freely, thanks to a vending machine. Ingenious, isn’t it? 😉
